Driving from Porto Novo to Tarrafal de Monte Trigo :

The « aluguers » (collective transport) usually leave from Porto Novo at around 11 am. A lot of drivers are waiting for the arrival of the ferries, offering transport to various touristic spots across the island. You’ll just have to ask for Tarrafal. The terrace of the hotel Antilhas (in front of the harbour) is the best meeting point:  the drivers heading for Tarrafal stop there in the morning for a coffee before leaving. They charge 700cve/person.

 

IMPORTANT: if you want drive to Tarrafal in the afternoon, or if you prefer a (more comfortable !) private car, you can easily hire a taxi – about 8 000 cve.
